GOIN' FOR IT, A NEW YEAR

Sunset from my brothers car, passenger seat.

Seth Godin (blog here) wrote this morning:

"Maybe next year...
The economy will be going gangbusters
Your knowledge will reach critical mass
Your boss will give you the go ahead (and agree to take the heat if things don't work out)
Your family situation will be stable
The competition will stop innovating
Someone else will drive the carpool, freeing up a few hours a week
There won't be any computer viruses to deal with, and
Your neighbor will return the lawnmower.

Then...
You can ship, you can launch your project, you can make the impact you've been planning on.

Of course, all of these things won't happen. Why not ship anyway?" [cont. reading]

This got me thinkin' about what I've been thinkin' about the past couple days and reiterated last night with my closest friend over a couple games of pool and a couple of beers..

"I need to just start going for it... every time."

I'm tired of over thinking situations, thinking to myself "hmm, will this be good, or fun, or new, or exciting". The reality is that I just do not know. And thinking something might not be cool is no reason to not find out first hand if it is or not. I now know that by not acting, I'm losing every time, rather than only a couple times had I jumped and gone for it every chance I got.

What's the old saying, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."

Here's to bringing in the new year with taking as many shots as I possibly can.

Cheers.
